Support for Fire-Hit NSW/QLD

Further Support for Fire-Hit New South Wales and Queensland

The people worst-hit by the New South Wales Bushfires will be given an extra hand with additional support payments available in the Armidale, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Tenterfield, Noosa, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, and Sunshine Coast local government area/s.

Member for Mackellar, Jason Falinski said Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payments were now available with $1000 for eligible adults and $400 for eligible children.

“The fires have had a devastating impact across NSW and QLD and these payments will go to those who have been hit hardest,’ Mr Falinski said.

“The fires have destroyed homes, cut essential services, affected local business and taken lives.

“Eligible people include those who have lost an immediate family member, their home or have been badly injured.

“This payment is on top of the jointly funded Disaster Recovery Allowance.

“I have received a large number of emails from residents of the Northern Beaches, urging the government to support those who are losing their homes. I also commend the countless Northern Beaches RFS Firefighters who have continued to travel north to assist with controlling the fires.

“Anyone who has been severely affected should contact the Department of Human Services to check their eligibility.”
