Member for Mackellar Jason Falinski yesterday joined community advocates and local business owners in a meeting with the Minister for Roads, Melinda Pavey and RMS executives to discuss the proposal for clearways through Collaroy and Narrabeen.

Mr Falinski, who presented a petition of almost 4,000 signatures, said Minister Pavey has heard loud and clear the community’s strong opposition.

“I thank the Minister for taking the time to hear our concerns regarding this radical proposal.

“I am pleased the Minister has undertaken not to make any decision for at least six months and until such time as RMS has reviewed all submissions. I will be holding RMS to this,” Mr Falinski said.

Owner of Asch’s IGA X-press Collaroy Beach Jimmy Aschner who attended the meeting said he was hopeful an appropriate outcome could be reached.

“What we’ve wanted from the outset was a situation that would not be detrimental to businesses and the community, and destroy the village ambience. It was great to have the Minister understand our concerns directly. We look forward to common sense prevailing,” Mr Aschner said.
