Member for Mackellar, Jason Falinski has today launched a Northern Beaches food drive on behalf of Street Mission, to support the most vulnerable on the Northern Beaches.
“While many of us can still afford to purchase food as we need it, there are some on the Northern Beaches who are doing it really tough, especially now during this crisis.” Mr Falinski stated.
“Each Christmas when I conduct a similar drive for Foodbank, I am amazed by the generosity of the community, I am sure people who are able to, will be as generous now.”
Street Mission is a 100% volunteer-based charity operating on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. They support the needs of disadvantaged people by providing food packages, and hot meals from their two locations in Dee Why and Balgowlah.
“Street Mission is doing very important work right now. I am pleased to be able to support them and the community in this way.”
Donations being accepted include:
- Tinned food
- Packaged goods
- Personal hygiene and laundry products
“I encourage everyone who is able to consider donating something to the drive. Together, as a community we can make a difference.”
Food deliveries can be made to the Mackellar electorate office from today, until the 23rd of April. For hygiene reasons, Mr Falinski’s office requests donations are delivered in a box or bag, and are left in the foyer of the office. The office is still staffed, however in practising social distancing staff will not take the donations by hand.
If you would like to donate, however, are unable to deliver it to the office in person, a safe pick up can be arranged. Please email: Jason.Falinski.MP@aph.gov.au
